When you turn 18, you gain certain adult rights. These rights include the right to vote[1], the right to make contracts, the right to sue on your own behalf, the right to make a will[2], the right to marry without parental permission[3], the right to get non-emergency medical treatment without your parents’ consent[4], and the right to live independently from your parents[5]. You, however, do not gain the right to purchase alcoholic beverages until the age of 21
